                                The End of the Affair

                                                - A novel by Graham Greene

( Graham Green - A writer gifted in the art of storytelling)

Graham Green, an English writer about whom some have long argued, should have been awarded the Noble Prize for his literary achievements.

When reading his fiction, whether a spy novel or an adventure, the reader might believe that it is a true account of an ex-M-16 intelligent officer or rather the experience of a one-time journalist because it is presented in an uninterrupted flow of cause and effect.

This 1951 novel, The End of an Affair, told as a first-person narration by a middle-aged novelist, is believed to be about the love affair he himself had with a beautiful married woman when he was in London.

As with other artistic forms, good novels have no expiration date, so they are immoral and can be read by any person of any age at any time. Additionally, Grahm Green's ability to bind his reader with his plot and style also provided the opportunity to entertain people worldwide by making films with nearly all of his works.

His introspection of the past of their love affair with the logical flow would run deep into your heart and make you cry.

Once discussing her husband's dislike of the smell of onions, both had steak with onions for their lunch before making love in a rented room of some parts of its house was demolished recently by the war.

Her civil servant husband, an acquaintance of the lover-writer, had a drink with him one day at a dinner party and later revealed his unhappy marriage life to him with a tear in his eye and, also, his knowing him as her lover. The same day, unexpectedly, both the husband and the lover witnessed her kissing with a little-known person to her.

Jealousy is not a new thing, either in marriage or in love affairs, and some illicit love affairs are full of the venom of both love and hate.

When I read about them having sex while the sick husband is upstairs with his hot bottle, within earshot to hear her mourning at the climax, I felt like putting the book down because I couldn't bear the cruelty of the unfaithful wife and a lustful, sexy man's love affair.

Oh!... In the end, he came down slowly with his worm bottle in hand and whispered, "Hello, Bendrix, I hope you've got everything you want". I would have committed suicide rather than read further. I put the novel aside for a while.

That's how Grahm Green writes! He can make a never-forgotten impact on you even when presenting a trivial thing.

Even if you are not provided with additional extractions, I believe you can assume, based on their mindset and unexpected outcomes, that they would never allow such love affairs to continue indefinitely.

If I am to write another novel but have no intention for the time being, however, if need be, I would thoroughly stick to his writing technique of being at ease with the subject matter and a fast-paced narrative style with a logical flow.
